13 Emojis You Didn’t Know We Need
There are loads of emojis available at our fingertips already. The amount is only going to increase with the demand of inclusivity and diversity of race, sexual orientation, age, and culture. I recommend, and I predict: Apple will release an update to allow streamlined personalization of each emoticon and customizable categorization for each user.
Emojis are frequently used as punctuation in private chat, and in captions on Instagram or Twitter. The period symbol has become quite an abrupt statement in itself. Emojis can be used to convey a message on their own without words. Is there a written language more universal than emojis? Interesting concept to think about.
Here is a list of new emojis we need:
1. Hands that make a heart
The world has united during the pandemic to demand equality, particularly with the black lives matter movement to end all types of racism. There are existing emoticons of hands making a peace sign, thumbs up, handshake, and more. We asked for the middle finger and we got that — so why not two hands that make a heart.
This could be used to signify encouragement of spoken word poetry, sass, or to get someone’s attention. There is an emoji to clap, pray, high-five, hang-loose, and rock on.
3. Dad holding a baby
On Father’s Day, it occurred to me that there is an emoji of a mother holding her newborn baby. A father’s relationship with the child is equally as important and influential.
This would be often used by existing members of the jeep community. Jeeps are a popularly desired vehicle for many drivers for various reasons including off-road capabilities, opportunity for modification, and aesthetic VSCO girl purposes.
The emoji for beer, wine, and other alcoholic drinks already exists. Marihuana has been legalize in Canada. Perhaps there should be a vape emoji as well.
The snowboard emoticon is not close enough.
7. Iced coffee
An emoji for Frappuccinos and iced caps please!
There is nearly an entire page of various fruits. Rhubarb feels excluded.
There is nearly an entire page of animals, but the squirrel is missing.
A red emoticon with sale written in all caps.
11. Dying battery
There is a fully charged green battery. A dying battery would be arguably more useful and relatable.
12. A record player and a record
There is a floppy disk emoji, which is a piece of technology that remains in the past. Whereas record players and records themselves were popular in the past and also made a comeback with the younger generation.
13. Acoustic guitar
There are a lot of musical instruments missing. The acoustic guitar would be a great start.
