POETRY

If I Die Tonight

The last poem I’ll ever write

Another day has come and gone

It’s hard to think it won’t be long

Until the end

Will life fade out slow

Will I even know

The last sunrise

Last kiss

Final moment

Fear or bliss

Did I waste my days

Careless with time

Prolong

Postpone

Television

Phone

Did I seize each day

Create

Laugh

Play

Would that make it okay

I am tired

I am alone

I am ready

To leave the place I call home

To my past, my friends, my family alike

I wish you the best

Until the next life

The lack of light surrounds

What used to be pink skies

Goodnight and goodbye

I had a heaven of a time
